We are looking for a USA Sales Lead to start market traction of our services and over time build our sales team in the United States. This is a terrific opportunity with a progressive company, dedicated to providing growers with the tools and knowledge required to increase profitability of their farm business. We use a combination of industry expertise and cutting-edge technologies to help our clients make better decisions about precision agronomics, variable rate technology, soil fertility, crop marketing, risk management, and data management.

Requirements for this position are a strong direct sales, relationship building, and coaching /mentoring background. This position would be based out of your home office to start and would entail flexible hours and travel.

Primary Purpose of Position

To drive Decisive Farming’s mission and vision from a sales perspective. This will be done initially through hands-on Territory Management, and eventually through the building and nurturing of the Territory Management team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive the mission and vision of the company from a sales perspective
    • Expanding Decisive Farming’s presence throughout the US as per the corporate plan through channel nurturing and direct sales
    • Maintain and grow the business through existing customer base, lead generation, customer qualification and closing of sales
  • Responsible for overall sales function
    • Performance of sales staff
    • Annual sales budget and forecast
    • Achieving and exceeding forecast
    • Pricing and programming on services
    • Direct negotiations with key “mega grower accounts”
    • On the ground sales support and coaching to sales staff (mentorship, joint sales calls, meetings, presentations, webinars)
    • Weekly sales meetings
    • Initiating sales training with HR manager for sales team
    • Manage channel partner accounts
  • Develop annual sales team commission structure with HR/CEO
  • Cover off Territory Manager responsibilities in unmanned territories as required
    • Sell and differentiate our products to new and existing customers
  • Participation at all trade-shows as seen beneficial to the business growth
  • Seek out PR and speaking opportunities for the company (coordinate with Marketing Manager)
  • Ensure CRM is up to date with all customer information and contact by sales team
    • Utilization of sales pipeline by all sales staff
    • Utilization of the sales forecast in Salesforce
  • Responsible to ensure client payment of services.
  • Participate in development of annual marketing budget with Marketing Manager
  • Coordinate with Marketing Manager the marketing/sales tools required by sales staff
  • Annual “touch base” with key business accounts- what can we do better?
  • Provide feedback to software development team on improvements and ideas
  • Handle level 2 customer complaints and solve any issues put forth.
  • Drive growth of established channel partners

Knowledge and Skill

  • 8+ years combination of territory sales & management experience in Agriculture
  • Solid connections and contacts on the grower and industry level 
  • An excellent understanding of agriculture commodities and agronomy, with a practical farming background
  • Strong sales leadership and relationship building background.
  • A degree or diploma in Business Management, Marketing or Agriculture
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and diagnostic skills, ability to undertake customer’s needs analyses on an ongoing basis
  • Extensive experience managing and coaching a sales team and developing new markets is a key asset
  • Proficient computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft programs, previous experience with a CRM program an asset
  • Excellent customer relations and negotiating skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Willingness to continually expand knowledge base about products, packages and program

Special Requirements

  • Based out of home office and requires frequent travel
  • Reliable mode of transportation for local territory travel
  • Willing to work flexible hours to accommodate the seasonal nature of the industry
  • Valid driver’s license and clean abstract, prepared for considerable amount of driving to and from sales calls which may or may not include driving in treacherous weather conditions
