Overview

Work as part of an agile team serving as a senior GIS application developer to customize, maintain, and enhance a variety of GIS applications for cloud-based solutions. Contribute to analysis of requirements and design of interactive mapping/reporting applications. You will be a senior member of the team in developing solutions using the latest cloud-based technologies. You will also be accountable for your project performance including deliverables and quality as well as cost/budget adherence.

You will participate in the full software development lifecycle of GIS applications. Provide leadership in developing web-based GIS capabilities to support analytical needs. Support the existing GIS suite of tools including SMS Advanced and related products, including enhancements to in-house developed applications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for defining and improving processes used by GIS operations staff, including usage of commercial and in-house software applications.
  • Responsible for defining and implementing computing infrastructure and operations processes for the GIS computing environment including ESRI ArcGIS desktop software, ArcGIS server and databases.
  • Collect and shape requirements for extending functionality for a web-based GIS application designed to support analytical and mission needs.
  • Develop and maintain web-based applications, develop scripts and tools for data collection, and devise and maintain integration and query methods for analysis of acquired data.
  • Support and maintain SMS Advanced suite of tools.
  • Provide support and mentoring to GIS operations staff and GIS developers on the use of geospatial tools and applications to accomplish their mission
  • Lead the GIS development team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skill

  • Degree in Geomatics or a Geomatics-related field (i.e. Geomatics Engineering, Geography, GIS, Remote Sensing, etc.).
  • 5-10 years developing GIS applications with a thorough understanding of ESRI geospatial tools and technologies.
  • Experience developing web mapping applications using JavaScript is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with SQL server and demonstrated knowledge of database design and analysis, client-server architecture, and data modeling. 
  • Experience with developing GIS tools using python and ArcGIS model builder. 
  • Experience with managing ArcGIS Server, map services and feature services.  Experience in managing ArcGIS Server on a cloud environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience with web services and web service development within the ESRI environment.
  • Experience in developing applications with C#.Net. Experience in working with ASP.Net is highly desirable.
  • Experience in authoring software requirements documents, architecture documents and operations documents.
  • Ability to review project requirements and estimate resource effort and schedule.
  • Ability to perform code reviews and make recommendations.
